Music at CWSA

All students in the school are involved in a vocal program involving sight singing, ear training, and voice production leading to unison and part singing. In Grades 4 and 5 Orff classes provide ensemble playing experience to accompany singing and creative dance. At the grade six level students begin the study of either a string or wind instrument. During grade six, seven, and eight, enough skills can be developed to allow grade seven and eight students to participate in various classroom instrumental groups. Musicianship and music history are an important part of the students’ music experience. Extra curricular opportunities are provided for students to participate in choirs. strings, bands, and Orff ensemble. Students are frequently used as accompanists for performance groups and soloists. Private lessons are offered during the school day, in piano, vocal, or instrumental studies to students in all grade levels with fees paid by the families.
